What is FSJ / BFD ?

Volunteer Program

The Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr (FSJ) and Bundesfreiwilligendienst (BFD) programs in Germany offer young people the chance to engage in social services and volunteer work across various fields.

These programs provide practical experience, broaden perspectives, and encourage social engagement, with a duration of 1 to 1.5 years.

FSJ and BFD are valuable opportunities to contribute to society while developing personal and professional skills. Participants can explore careers in the social and public service sectors and gain enriching life experiences through volunteer work.

REGISTRATION STEPS

Easy steps to become an FSJler/BFDler

(FSJler/BFDler = a person participating in the FSJ/BFD program)

German Language Preparation

Enroll in online German language courses with MAVO Management, from levels A1 to C1, taught by native German speakers.

If you have a confirmation letter from the institution (Träger) stating that German skills are not required or can be acquired after arrival, a German language certificate is not needed.

However, MAVO Management recommends taking German courses at levels A2-B1 to increase your chances of securing an FSJ/BFD position, as the interview will be conducted entirely in German.

Application to Various Institutions (Träger)

MAVO Management provides intensive support, including document preparation, finding institutions, and full German interview simulations.

You will also receive a list of common interview questions from institutions.

Visa application

MAVO Management provides intensive assistance with the visa application process, including document preparation, legalization, translation, and ticket booking.

Document translation and legalization occur during the search for institution (Träger).
